How’s the serenity

If you travel nine kilometres south of Chinchilla, you’ll stumble upon the Chinchilla Weir, situated along the Condamine River. With free camping in designated areas (with a two-night maximum), you can make the most of a camping minibreak weekend. Powered sites are limited, so bring backup, and donations are accepted at the Chinchilla Visitor Information Centre. Facilities include toilets, picnic tables, shelters and waste bins. You’ll have to BYO drinking water and fishing license, but the serenity is on the house.

Chinchilla Weir is accessed on a first come, first served basis with no bookings required. The grounds are mostly free camping but there are some powered sites available. Donations can be left at the Chinchilla Visitor Information Centre. Maximum stay 2 nights. Access to weir on the left side of Tara-Chinchilla Road.
