Keen to spot a rare feathered friend? Take yourself on the Western Downs’ birding trail – pick up a copy of the “Birds of Western Downs” guide at a Visitor Information Centre.

Start your trail in Lake Broadwater, Dalby (the only natural lake on the Darling Downs, home to more than 230 bird species), Bunya Mountains, Chinchilla Weir, Archers Crossing South, Charley’s Creek, Caliguel Lagoon in Condamine, Gill Weir in Miles, Chinaman’s Lagoon in Miles, Tara Lagoon, Myall Park Botanic Garden Glenmorgan and Brigalow Creek in Meandarra, Waterloo Park in Wandoan and culminating with Jandowae’s Dam.
