Barakula State Forest/Dogwood Creek Camp

Nearest Town: Chinchilla 60km

Access: Barakula turnoff at Auburn Road Chinchilla, follow signs to Barakula Forest Office

Comments: Dry weather access only, not suitable for boating. No mobile servie.

Camping permit required, available from www.npsr.qld.gov.au

Chinchilla Weir

Nearest Town: Chinchilla 9km

Access: Travel 9km south from Chinchilla on Tara Rd

Comments: Fishing License required.  No fishing within 200m of Weir Wall (above or below).  Situated on Condamine River, suitable for boating. Free camping in designated areas for 2 nights only.  Donations accepted at Chinchilla Visitor Information Centre.  No drinking water.

 

Rocky Creek

Nearest Town: Chinchilla

Access: Travel west along the Warrego Hwy for approximately 4km until you cross the “Rocky Creek” bridge. Approximately 100m past the bridge, turn right onto a dirt track.

Comments: Suitable only for dry weather.

 

Archers Crossing North

Nearest Town: Chinchilla 11km

Access: Travel 7km east of Chinchilla, turn right onto Archers Crossing (No Through Road), approximately 4km further to river.  Dry weather conditions only. (North side of river)  Not suitable for caravans.

Comments: Situated on Condamine River. Bush camping, no facilities

Archers Crossing South

Nearest Town: Chinchilla 24km

Access: Travel 10km east from Chinchilla, take Hopelands/Kogan (Condamine River) turnoff, proceed 9km to Hopeland School then turn right, continue 2.2km to Archers Crossing Rd (first gravel road on right), follow 4km to river.

Comments: Situated on Condamine River.  Suitable for boating and bush camping
