There’s something here for every kind of camper.
Chinchilla is teeming with camping spots, with plenty of options to explore on the banks of the Condamine River and the Chinchilla Weir. Try your hand at watersports, fishing for Golden Perch, Murray Cod or Silver Perch to your heart’s content or just take the time to reconnect with nature in all its tranquility.

How’s the serenity…
If you travel nine kilometres south of Chinchilla, you’ll stumble upon the Chinchilla Weir, situated along the Condamine River. With free camping in designated areas (with a two-night maximum), you can make the most of a camping minibreak weekend. Powered sites are limited, so bring backup, and donations are accepted at the Chinchilla Visitor Information Centre. Facilities include toilets, picnic tables, shelters and waste bins. You’ll have to BYO drinking water and fishing license, but the serenity is on the house.

Chinchilla Weir offers a relaxed, first-come, first-served camping experience — no bookings required. Most of the grounds are available for free camping, with a limited number of powered sites also on offer. A maximum stay of 2 nights applies.
Donations to support the upkeep of the campgrounds are appreciated and can be made at the Chinchilla Visitor Information Centre.
Campfires are welcome in designated fire pits only. Please bring your own firewood and help protect the local environment by not collecting wood from nearby bushland.

Access to the weir is located on the left side of Tara-Chinchilla Road.

The park also features a 3-acre off-leash dog area, making it a great choice for travellers with pets.

A peaceful bushland campground just 5 minutes from Chinchilla’s CBD. Bitumen roads, drive-through access, and grassy sites make it ideal for RVs, caravans, tents, and buses.
Guests can enjoy free use of paddle boats, kayaks, and canoes on the lagoons, plus a large deck for relaxing and wildlife watching. Kangaroos and even koalas are sometimes spotted.
Pets are welcome. Firewood available for $10.
