Access: Travel on the Moonie Highway from Westmar.  Turn right at Flinton sign and follow bitumen.

Comments: No camping allowed on the racecourse.  Situated on the Moonie River, subject to flooding

Moonie River Westmar

Nearest Town: Westmar 12km

Access:  Westmar township intersection – turn right into Meandarra/Talwood Road, travel 12 km’s turn right before bridge for waterhole.

Comments: Subject to flooding.


Bendee Road Reserve

Nearest Town: Westmar 12km

Access: From Moonie, travel along Moonie/St George Highway and turn right at the Meandarra/Goondiwindi turnoff (Bendee Rd) travel 16.2km to river. 50m before the river, turn right.

Comments: Dry weather access only


Southwood National Park

Nearest Town: Moonie 32 km

Access: Head west on the Moonie Hwy, past Southwood National Park, immediately turn right into Apelts Rd, travel 15km’s northwest, turn right over grid to waterhole. 

Comments: Subject to flooding.  No camping, day use only.


Rocky Water Hole

Nearest Town: Moonie 14km

Access: from Moonie travel 14km north along Leichhardt Highway over Moonie Bridge, then right at Old Moonie Road to the river.

Comments: Suitable for small row boats.  Subject to water level.


Glenmorgan Water Facility

Nearest Town: Glenmorgan 0km

Access: Head west through Glenmorgan, past first crossroads, immediately turn left before crossing bridge.

Comments:  Camping facilities at the End of the Line, Glenmorgan.


Pialaway Reserve

Nearest Town: Glenmorgan 37km

Access: Travel 66km from Surat on Surat/Condamine Road to ‘Warkon’ mailbox.  Turn right and proceed 12km to ‘Warkon’ Station.  Following the signs to Glenmorgan, continue a further 3km to bridge, then another 3km to fishing reserve (on left before grid). Subject to flooding.


Brigalow Creek

Nearest Town: Meandarra 0km

Access: Situated on the north western side of the Meandarra township

Comments: Well known for its water lilies.  Camping permitted along the creek.  Leo Gordon Apex Park is adjacent to the creek.



Nearest Town: Meandarra 35km

Access: Travel 18km along Meandarra/Condamine Rd.  Turn left onto Undulla Rd, proceed 13km to site on Undulla Creek (at Murtlock Road turnoff).

Comments: Subject to flooding


Camp Station Reserve

Nearest Town: Meandarra 17km

Access: Travel 17km’s northwest along Meandarra/Condamine Rd to site.

Comments: Subject to flooding


Reis’ Undulla Creek

Nearest Town: Tara 44km

Access: Travel 5km west of Tara on the Surat Developmental Road and veer right at the Western Road.  Proceed 31km to the Hannaford turnoff.  Turn right, travel 7km to Undulla Creek.

Comments: Suitable for small rowboats, subject to flooding.


Tara Lagoon

Nearest Town: Tara 0km

Access: Bitumen

Comments: Admire the birds whilst walking along the lagoon; follow the pathway into centre of town, adjoining Settlers Park and the Walk of Remembrance Gardens. Throw in a line and catch a yellow belly, jewfish or silver perch.  Fees collected onsite for first night, second and third night FREE.


Twenty-six (26) Mile

Nearest Town: Tara 28km

Access: Along Kogan Road, turn left onto Weitzel’s Road

Comments: Dry weather access only, suitable for small row boats. Subject to flooding.
